In
recent years, there have been advances in bioinformatics
that makes sequence analysis more powerful. One very
important tool is the hidden markov model (HMM). We
have used HMM to find frequently occurring domains in
cadherins and then we used the domain layouts to help
us sub-classify. Also, we implemented the taxonomy in
a web-enabled interface.
Protein
Search: Search your protein sequence for commonly
occuring domains in cadherins. For both sequence similarity
and domain layout, the program will predict a possible
family for the protein.

layout consensus among particular cadherin families.
